CLEXM ALBA Synchrotron Workshop Day 3!

CLEXM ALBA Synchrotron Workshop Day 3!

One of our CLEXM PHD students, Jakub Krstev attended a workshop in the ALBA Synchrotron in Barcelona, Spain. Jakub reports on his experience from the workshop Day 3.

“For the final day of our workshop we rounded out our training in the Mistral beamline biological SXT workflow by generating tomograms from a SXT tilt-series in IMOD, experiencing first hand the precariousness of getting a robust tilt-series alingment even with the use of fiducial markers, followed by a demonstration of tomogram segmentation by Kevin Mamprin using Amira.

Being walked through the whole tomogram generation process step by step by was incredibly helpful on account of the inscrutable quirks and byzantine nature of the aforementioned software, so we are very grateful to Dr. Ana Joaquina Perez Berna and Kevin Mamprin for sharing their hard earned expertise in this field.

Many thanks again to all the folks at ALBA who made this incredibly exciting and insightful visit possible!” – Jakub Krstev.
