One of our CLEXM PHD students, Fariha Mahzabin Annesha attended the conference “Pathogens: New Insights into Imaging Techniques” organised within the CLEXM MSCA program, and hosted by one of our partners, Heidelberg University. Fariha reports on her experience at the conference.
To conclude the “Pathogens: New Insights from Imaging” conference, today’s sessions featured pioneering discussions on correlative microscopy techniques and innovative imaging methods.
We delved into topics ranging from HIV-1 maturation using FRET biosensors to new insights into Plasmodium stages. Notably, our CLEXM DC Kevin Mamprin presented on West Nile Virus morphology, highlighting the significance of correlating cryo-SIM and cryo soft x-ray imaging to visualize ultrastructures after infection and treatment.
Victor Puelles captivated us with his exploration of tissue decoding across biological scales and the potential of multiplexing at these levels. A personal highlight was the presentation by professor Freddie Frischknecht on imaging malaria parasites, where he discussed how understanding their movement mechanisms can contribute to kidney disease modeling.
Let’s continue to push the boundaries of what we can visualize in pathogen biology!
My heartfelt thanks to all the organisers for such a successful and sustainable conference.
